Photos: The US in Second World War

A photo gallery of the US soldiers and civilians in the Second World War. “As with World War I, the United States did not enter World War II until after the rest of the active Allied countries had done so. The United States’s first contribution to the war was simultaneously to cut off the oil and raw material supplies needed by Japan to maintain its offensive in Manchuria, and to increase military and financial aid to China. Its first contribution to the Allies came in September 1940 in the form of the Lend-Lease program with Britain.” (Wikipedia)
