Photos: Second World War, part 2

A collection of various photos from the Second World War. The second gallery. Photos of various events and people in no particular order. “The start of the war is generally held to be September 1 1939, with the German invasion of Poland and subsequent declarations of war on Germany[4] by most of the countries in the British Empire and Commonweath, and by France.[5][6] Many belligerents were at war before or after this date, during a period which spanned from 1937 to 1941, as a result of other events. Among these main events are the Marco Polo Bridge Incident (fought between Nationalist China and Japan), the start of Operation Barbarossa (the German invasion of the Soviet Union), and the attacks on Pearl Harbor and British and Dutch colonies in Southeast Asia.” (Wikipedia)
